What is Superscout?
The world is a place full of amazing and interesting things to see, learn, and experience. However, the tools and platforms that we use to find these things are not safe because they were never designed to prioritize the well-being of the people they claim to connect.
Most social media platforms were built with commercial intent, and in most cases the promise they make of connecting people is secondary to making money and their policies and features reflect that goal.
We are building a better platform for anyone to find anything that can help people learn, connect, help, or find opportunity without having to become the product that drives the business model of a company.
Superscout is 100% community-made, owned, and run. People in our own community on the platform invest their own time, money, talents, and effort to build a global village for social teamwork for everything from making things to solving challenges big and small with people we know.

What features are we building?
Superscout works like any other social platform, but without the algorithm that limits what we can discover and lures people into echo chambers, and definitely without the data collection for the sake of advertising and profit that is in every single platform in use today.
We've designed Superscout so that your information is yours alone, your conversations are only between you and the people you choose to talk to, and the things you post will always be your sole property. We're doing things this way because we don't agree with the mediocrity of the model for doing things that prey on people in order to exist or to be sustainable.
Superscout will have the following main features:
Community Timeline where all your posts you choose to share publicly will be shared with others.
A chat that's private by default, you will have to send invites to people you choose if you want others to join your conversations.
A map where you can easily pin recommendations you might have for places you've seen, restaurants you like, libraries, schools, parks, and everything else in the world that you've visited and want others to visit as well.
Privacy features that gives you the option to hide your location that not even us will know where you might be having coffee or eating lunch. It's our way of providing our community to share our lives without putting personal privacy at risk.
Educational and beneficial content in the community timeline will slowly be added both by us and by you and the community. Superscout will focus on things people can share to help others get better at something or learn new things that can create opportunity for yourself and others. Our dream is that if you're looking for something you want to learn or enjoy you can find it on Superscout without the worry that your browsing history or private information is being used for something you never gave permission for.
Superscout also works as a tool for local and personal resilience in a world with an ever growing scale of risk from climate-driven and human-made disasters. To do this, Superscout is actively inviting resilience and response agencies, organizations, and local teams to be a part of the community so that if someone posts about needing emergency assistance or rescue that post will always be seen first-hand by people who have the skill to respond.
Superscout also works as the world's only true platform for social teamwork where people in their own communities can look for help and give help in solving big and small challenges - locally. At the same time, Superscout provides the ability for social teamwork to scale when needed with its larger community acting as a network of support that can provide help and support directly to where it's needed while in direct contact with the ones on the ground.
We are continuously working to improve these featues and add more based on your suggestions. Superscout is a community-made platform with volunteers taking on the work of building everything with just social teamwork.
Will this actually work?
The unique thing about Superscout is that we actually built the community first before the first line of code was ever written to build the tech. We spent more than a decade practicing social teamwork with the initial members of the community to provide value for people affected by category-5 storms, earthquakes, landslides, floods, volcanic eruptions, a global pandemic, and even personal crisis.
Superscout is the only social platform in the world whose community members actually show up for each other in the real world when needed. Together, we've built houses, cooked food for villages, delivered medicine and medical services, gave bicycles for local mobility, and a few community members even helped people start up small businesses without the expectation of return aside from being able to do something that makes them a better version of ourselves.
Will this work? Yes, absolutely a 100%! Deep down inside people are inherently good but have never had the space and support to practice it in daily life. Superscout is not about doing heroic things or going out of our way to save the world, all we dream to accomplish is to build a space where people who might have something to share can make a difference for people and planet.
What if I have nothing to share?
That is absolutely okay. Our goal is to turn the modern human habit of always wanting to take something from others to get ahead, even if it's just time or attention. Superscout is a place where you can just be, you can just read what others share, you can learn from what others teach, and it will never cost you anything - not even your time.
What do you get out of this?
The first thing we get out of building the Superscout platform is a place that our own families, neighbors, and friends deserve. We do need to make money at some point in order to keep the lights on and to make sure that our volunteer team can have food on the table for our own families and pay for expenses like rent and groceries.
The big difference is that none of us are building this to become famous or wealthy, just like you we just want a better world for ourselves - and the way we're doing it together is to take all of the technology that everyone else is always using to make money from us and build it ourselves to do the things that we actually need in our own lives.
The big question in everyone's minds is of course "how do you make money?"
It's easy, by creating value and benefit for everyone who decides to show up and become a part of the community. Specifically, we will generate income by producing free content for the Superscout community that we will eventually find sponsors for - just like how people used to make money back in the day before "optimization" became another term for greed.
Having our own platform means we can actually create content that everyone can actually enjoy, learn from, and interact with that will provide real value for our community first so that eventually we will have enough of you reading, watching, and learning for free that it will become impossible to ignore for brands and businesses that create no harm for people and planet.
Aside from developers, our volunteer team also has professionals from the advertising, marketing, production, academic, scientific, arts, music, theatre, carpenty, culinary, media, video games, and a lot of other industries who are all excited to share their skills, experience, and talents with others because we've realized that we cannot build the future by abandoning the present. The only way we can make sure that we are building the right things is to see if it makes a difference right now.
You're invited! We hope you can be a part of the Superscout community.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We are constantly working and improving the Superscout platform. As we make the alpha version of the platform open to the public you may encounter unexpected bugs and glitches. If this happens please send us a message and we will do our best to address the issue as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your patience!
